Given we face risks all the time, every minute of every day, do you know how to identify a risk in your life? There are different levels of risk and different types of risk – like safety, environmental, cyber, operational, etc. Risks are events that haven’t happened to us yet, and my job is to help the people in my company know how to tell if something is risky enough that we need to try to prevent it or contain it, should it occur.

My Typical Day:
So many emails all the time! Helping people. Creating new ways of working. Managing our team’s workload. And even more than emails – meetings – so, so, so, so, so many meetings.

So many emails all the time! Emails nonstop throughout the day – mostly people with questions or updates about work in progress. I read a lot of documents created by other people and create new processes to help make managing risk easier. Sound boring? I promise that it’s not. I mean, there are times where I wish someone else could do my work for me, but most of the time, it’s great being able to design a new way to operate, to improve on what’s already in place. The reason it’s so great is that I get to do it with the best people. We have so much fun – it’s like creating Lego masterpieces without the instructions – or actually, making them better than the instructions!
